Yes, Folly – or it could turn to be that way.

I’ve been a member of a spiritual forum for many years, knowing some members for going on eight years now. I’ve also been a moderator on said forum for about four years. As of recently, I’ve been promoted to administrator, perhaps with those of us in that position facing the guillotine.

The owners of the site have been absent for a year or more. The site is facing a shut down for non-payment and we’ve jumped to keep this place active and alive – for all the members there. We’ve placed exorbitant amounts of time and energy into the site; updating, modifying, merging, purging and shooting down the bugs that have popped up.

I’ve invested the time and energy into seeking out the owners of the site, who’ve moved on to new adventures of their own. I’ve had little contact with them, though my attempts have been grand. In the most recent messages I’ve sent, discussion of overtaking the site, releasing them from the financial burden as well as upgrading the site features, have gone unanswered, though read.

Knowing the site has arrearages, one administrator has contacted the hosting company to inquire about our paying the site off, bringing it current and making the regular monthly payments, to ensure it’s survival. Thus the guillotine… The hosting company will have to make attempts to contact the site owners. Though the communication (extremely lacking) has been good between us, there is the possibility that our heads will find themselves in a basket with a clean cut at the neck.

As I said, I’ve been a member of this forum for many years. I adore the people and the community as a whole. I hope, through the grace of God, the owners accept our reaching out with the best possible reaction.
